Tadoba National Park

Tadoba, the oldest protected forest in Maharashtra, is a charming wilderness featuring scenic hilly terrain along its northern and western edges and the pristine, perennial Todoba Lake at its heart. Once a lesser-known destination favored by only a few nature enthusiasts, Tadoba National Park has recently gained prominence, thanks to a surge in tiger numbers and sightings that have placed it firmly among India’s premier tiger reserves.

The park is a dry deciduous forest dominated by teak and bamboo, interspersed with grasslands and mixed woodland. This type of vegetation allows for excellent visibility, making wildlife sightings more frequent—especially during the dry season. Several man-made water holes scattered throughout the forest become vital gathering spots for animals in the hotter months. Tadoba National Park spans about 116 sq. km., while the entire reserve covers 625 sq. km.—ample space to witness the region’s rich wildlife. Home to approximately 60–70 tigers, the park’s tourism area is divided into three zones: Kolsa, Mohuli, and Tadoba.
